First-run setup becomes a conversation with DorkBot, the dashboard grows hands so you can start work from it, and connecting OpenCode begins with one plain choice about where your models run.
Setting up a new tool usually means filling out forms and reading a "you're all set" screen that leaves you staring at an empty dashboard. This release does the opposite: you meet DorkBot, talk to it, and end setup already working. The dashboard becomes a place you start real work, connecting a local model runtime gets one plain first question, and the canvas opens far more of your files.

Setup is a conversation now
First-run setup is a chat with DorkBot instead of a stack of forms. DorkBot introduces itself, lets you hear each personality before you pick one, offers to look around for projects you already have, and then hands you a real chat box. Your first message drops you straight into a live session, so setup ends by getting to work.
A dashboard with hands
The top of the dashboard asks "What are we building today?" and turns your message into a live session with your default agent. A "Your agents" row shows each agent as a card with a plain-language status like "Working now" or "Idle since yesterday"; click one to open a session, or start a fresh agent with the new button right there. The status cards read in outcomes too: "Connected to Telegram", "2 agents ready", "Quiet this week".
DorkBot shows you around
Ask "Show me around" any time and DorkBot walks you through the app on your real screen, never a mockup. The first time you schedule a task, connect a channel, or add a second agent, it offers to point out where that lives. Say "Later" once and it will not ask again.
One plain choice for OpenCode
Connecting OpenCode now starts with where your models come from: best models with zero setup in the cloud, private and free on your own computer, or your own API key. Each option states its one honest trade-off up front. The model menu is searchable and grouped by what a model is good for, on-computer models are marked "private", and the local option becomes a small manager for pulling and sizing models against your hardware.
More of your files open in the canvas
3D models, audio, and video now open right in the canvas, alongside every text file a project contains. Audio and video stream so you can seek mid-clip, one broken file can no longer take down the whole canvas, and the canvas finally follows the light or dark theme you picked in DorkOS.

- A conversation entry point after setup: the sidebar "Getting started" card leads with a "Talk to DorkBot" row that opens DorkBot (DOR-416).
- Hear each personality before you choose it: as you pick how DorkBot should sound during setup, DorkBot posts a short line back in that exact voice (DOR-417).
- Open a chat that already carries your first message, so it sends the moment the session opens and your words show up as your own (DOR-417).

Tours run on your real screen, never a mockup, and you can leave any time by pressing Escape or clicking outside. Say "Later" once and it will not ask again (DOR-419).
- Open 3D models, audio, and video files right in the canvas, plus every text file a project contains. New audio/video viewers play inline, and the 3D viewer now loads 3MF/PLY/FBX/DAE models alongside glTF/GLB, STL, and OBJ (DOR-420).
- Audio and video are new media types that stream from the server, so playback can seek to any point mid-file without downloading the whole clip (this uses HTTP Range requests). An unsupported binary shows a friendly in-canvas message instead of breaking the canvas (DOR-420).
- OpenCode's model list now comes back grouped into Frontier, Solid coders, and Quick helpers, and sorted for you. Models that run on your own computer are marked as local, and frontier models stay cloud-only (DOR-422).
- You can now pull any Ollama model by name, not just a short preset list. For each model DorkOS gives an honest read on whether it will run well, may be slow, or is too large for your hardware (DOR-422).
- On Windows and Linux machines with an NVIDIA graphics card, those hardware reads now count your GPU memory, not just your system memory (DOR-422).
- Start a new agent right from the dashboard: the Your agents section now has a New agent button next to its heading.

Prefer LM Studio or another local server? A link takes you straight to connecting it directly (DOR-423).
- Commands and file paths shown in the app now use one consistent inline style, so code you can copy is easy to spot.
- The setup screen now shows a friendly "We'll install it for you" note with the exact command one tap away, instead of a raw terminal line, and the button to start chatting reads "Meet DorkBot".
- Setup details now list each coding agent's name on its own line, so long names and their descriptions are both fully readable.
- When you connect Codex or Claude, signing in is now the first thing you see. Prefer a key? "Use an API key instead" reveals the key field, and you can switch back anytime.
- The first-run setup screens now work with your browser's back and forward buttons, and a refresh keeps you on the same screen instead of starting over.
- The personality step in onboarding now sits in its own card with a bigger, centered radar, and DorkBot previews its voice in a quote right inside the card instead of as a stray chat message.
Fixed
- The setup finish screen keeps the completion screen up until you act. It used to close on its own a second or two after appearing, dropping you on the dashboard before you could click "Start your first session" (DOR-416).
- Never-active agents show as new, not dead. A DorkBot you just set up reads "New" instead of "Stale" or "Never active", and it stays visible in the sidebar instead of hiding under "inactive agents" (DOR-416).
- The finish-screen confetti stops on exit: it clears after a few seconds and when you move on, instead of drifting across the screen long after setup (DOR-416).
- One broken file can no longer take down the whole canvas. When a document fails to open, only that tab shows a short "This tab hit a problem" message with a Retry button. Your other tabs and the tab strip keep working. If the app updated while the tab was open, the message offers a one-click reload (DOR-420).
- 3D models degrade gracefully. If your device can't open a 3D view, the tab shows a plain message instead of breaking the canvas (DOR-420).
- Opening and closing 3D files over and over no longer piles up graphics memory. When you close a model, the viewer now frees its geometry, material, and texture resources, and an unused material fallback was removed (DOR-420).
- Markdown files open ready to edit again. Click the pencil on a Markdown file in the canvas and it turns editable right away, keeping your place. Your typing autosaves as before (DOR-420).
- The canvas now matches the theme you picked in DorkOS. Markdown, code files, and change diffs all follow your light or dark choice, so a light app stays light and a dark app stays dark even when your computer's own setting disagrees. And if you leave DorkOS set to follow your computer, it now reads that setting correctly too. Switching themes updates every open document instantly, no reload needed (DOR-420).
- DorkOS now remembers your OpenCode connection. Once you connect OpenCode (through OpenRouter, your own API key, or local models on your computer), it stays ready across page reloads and restarts. You are no longer asked to sign in again when you already had (DOR-422).
- Dialogs now open in place instead of flying in from the top-left corner.
- The guided tour's highlight now glides smoothly from one spot to the next instead of jumping in from the corner.
